Khan: Mayweather picks slow fighters because he doesn’t move like he used to

mayweather3423By Poerqe: Former IBF/WBA light welterweight champion Amir Khan (28-3, 19 KO’s) is sounding bitter by claiming Floyd Mayweather Jr. has been sherry picking his opponents and is ducking him like he ducked Pacquiao. Khan, 27, hasn’t given up on the idea of fighting Mayweather, but it looks like it’s starting to dawn on him that he may not get the fight. Maybe that’s why Khan comes across as bitter in this interview.

In an interview with the National Khan said.

“Floyd is not the same fighter as he was three or four years ago. That’s why he picks slow fighters, because he doesn’t have the same movement as he used to. I have been working very hard in camp on a Plan A, Plan B and Plan C on how to beat him…he has dodged two of the quickest fighters in the business because he knows I can give him a headache.” The mention of two quick fighters is Khan referring to Pacquiao and of course himself.

Mayweather has yet to announce his may 3rd opponent. But the race so far has been between Khan and Marcos Maidana. Khan claimed he is not very impressed with Mayweather’s last 4 fights

“If you look at his last three or four fights … all of them are slow, with no footwork, one-dimensional fighters,” said Khan. “He cherry-picks them, to make himself look good.”

That is rich coming from someone who lost 2 out of his last 4 fights and looked terrible in his fourth. Khan went on about the fact that his speed and style would bother Mayweather.

Khan may need to use his Plan B or C opponents. Khan needs to fight better opposition if he wants to get Mayweather’s attention. He’s been facing weak opponents ever since he was stopped in the 4th round by Danny Garcia in 2012. If it’s going to be a Plan B or C, it had better be a good opponent this time. Khan should forget about Mayweather and make his own path.
