price787(Photo Credit: Photo Wende) By Scott Gilfoid: Heavyweight David Price (15-2, 13 KO’s) weighed in on Friday for his mismatch against Istvan Ruzsinszky (12-9-1, 8 KO’s) on Saturday night at the Hanns-Martin-Schleyer Halle, Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Price, 30, weighed in at 248.7 lbs. and looked good. Price is never out of shape for his fights. His problem is more in the chin department unfortunately.

Price’s 5’11” opponent Ruzsinszky weighed in at 244.3 lbs. That’s kind of a lot of weight for someone who’s not even 6-feet tall, and you can imagine that he’s going to have a lot of problems moving around the ring in the brief amount of time that the fight lasts.

Unless Price has been given instructions from his new German promoters to toy with Ruzsinszky to get some practice rounds in, you can expect Price to come out quickly and knock Ruzsinszky out in the 1st round in a meaningless win. This is such an incredibly match mismatch that words can’t really describe it. Price has never fought anyone at this low a level before, not even at the very start of his career.

Ruzsinszky is coming off of a 3rd round knockout at the hands of someone named Marcin Siwy. I’ve never heard of the guy, but my guess he’s not in the same league as the 6’8″ Price.

The Price-Ruzsinszky isn’t an interesting bout, but what will be neat to see is how long it takes before Price is eventually put in with a good opponent again. At 30, Price doesn’t have forever to be strung along at a snail’s pace against the likes of Ruzsinszky type opponents. What he needs is a good trainer that can mold him into another Wladimir Klitschko, and do it quickly before he starts aging out.

WBO cruiserweight champion Marco Huck (36-2-1, 25 KO’s) weighed in at 199.5 lbs. for his title defense against Firat Arslan (33-6-2, 21 KO’s) in the main event. Arslan weighed 198.6 lbs. Huck and Arslan fought in November 2012 with Huck winning a controversial 12 round unanimous decision.

Arslan may need a knockout in this fight to ensure that he comes out of the fight with a win. I can’t see him getting the decision given to him even if he knocks Huck down a half dozen times. I just don’t see Arslan getting the nod in this fight. Arslan needs to think knockout in this fight if he’s smart.

Weigh-in results:

Firat Arslan 198.6 lbs
Marco Huck 199.5 lbs

Istvan Ruzsinszky 244.3 lbs
David Price 248.7 lbs
