Wait until 2015, Pacquiao tells Mayweather
By Juan dela Cruz: In a recent interview with Eddie Alinea of Philboxing, Manny Pacquiao clarified that the fight is impossible right now considering he is still under contract with Top Rank. Just recently, Floyd Mayweather Jr laid another demand for the fight to happen, and that is Pacquiao should leave Top Rank because he doesn’t want to do business with Bob Arum. And for the nth time, Manny agreed to Floyd’s term just to make the fight happen.
It’s just that, Manny has to finish his contract with Top Rank first to avoid any legal issues. As we all knew, Pac’s contract with the promotional company end by 2014, so Floyd has to wait until 2015.
Floyd Mayweather Jr must have already heard this through his men and right now, he might be already trembling in fear. Maybe he thought Manny won’t budge in but here they are, another agreed term for the Pacman. In many of his interviews at Fight Hype, Floyd had always been mentioning Manny Pacquiao’s name even when he was not asked about the Pacman. Clearly, Pac is always on his head or maybe, he just want to sell his forthcoming fight using Manny’s name. When asked about this, Pac can only say that he didn’t know he was always being remembered by Floyd and for that, he was very thankful.
Pacquiao never answered any of Floyd’s tirade against him through social media. It was truly a sign of professionalism despite the other one’s classless acts. We all knew that Floyd can only fight Manny from afar, or from social media, that’s why Pac just let it pass knowing it is Floyd who looked fatuous in what he is doing, and not Pacquiao.
In light of Pacquiao’s statement, can we now expect the mega fight between the eight-division champ and the pretender? Of course not! As I’ve been saying before, the fight won’t happen because Floyd will never run out of lame excuses and ridiculous demands. To all those saying we are lucky because we are here in this golden era of boxing, I say you are wrong because we are denied of several fights that should have been done but unfortunately, due to pusillanimity, it never happened.
