Lucas Browne wants Tyson Fury bout after April

By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten #11 WBC heavyweight contender Lucas “Big Daddy” Browne (19-0, 17 KO’s) recently heard Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s) mention wanting to fight him in 2014, and Browne is ready take on the 6’9″ Fury as soon as possible. Browne has a fight in April he needs to take care of first, but once that’s out of the way he’ll be able to face Fury.

This would be interesting to see how Fury handles his first real puncher. I don’t rate the wild-swinging Dereck Chisora as being a big puncher. Fury beat him, but the only thing you have to worry about with Chisora is not getting hit with his looping shots that wind up nailing you in the back of the head.

Other that that, he’s not a huge puncher. But Fury would be getting hit with some massive shots if he were to step inside the ring with Big Daddy, and I can definitely see him tasting the canvas several times in that fight.

“I’ll sign the contract tomorrow,” Browne said to the Lancashire Evening Post. “He’s stated he’s having a warmup fight in February. I’m in one corner to box for the Commonwealth title in early 2014. After that, I think we should fight each other. I promise Tyson unlike David Haye, I’ll definitely turn up on fight night.”

Browne, 6’4″, has wins over James Toney, Travis Walker, Jason Gavern and Richard Towers. Browne stopped Towers in the 5th round last November.

Fury hasn’t fought since last year in April when he beat former cruiserweight champion Steve Cunningham. Fury could have fought Kubrat Pulev in an IBF heavyweight eliminator bout, but he instead wasted the last 8 months of 2013 training for a fight against David Haye that never materialized. Hopefully for Fury’s sake he learned his lesson. He should have fought Deontay Wilder or Pulev, because at least with those two fighters Fury would have had a much better chance of having them make it through training camp without falling apart.
