Peterson wants that fight a lot if his promoters at Golden Boy Promotions can put that fight together.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is interested in matching Peterson with Danny Garcia or in a rematch against Lucas Matthysse, who stopped Peterson in the 3rd round in May of last year. Schaefer also says he can find a lot of fights for Peterson if he decides to move up in weight to the welterweight division for his next fight.

“I want to be the best at 140 and move up to 147 soon, so the sooner the better [to fight Danny Garcia],” Peterson said via ESPN. “I always thought Matthysse would be a harder fight for me stylistically than Danny. I know that my styler fits better with Danny than Matthysse.”

The thing with Garcia is that he uses movement when facing guys that put pressure on him. Peterson showed in his fight against Amir Khan that he can put off the ring against a mover, and Garcia doesn’t move nearly as well as Khan does.

If Danny decides to move in circles for 12 rounds against Peterson then it’s not going to work well for him. Peterson will easily cut off the ring on Danny to force him to fight. Danny was able to use movement well against Matthysse, but he’s not good at cutting off the ring like Peterson is. Danny also likes to hold when facing a pressure fighter. That’s not going to work against Peterson, because he’s able to land shots while being held. Peterson is an inside fighter, and he doesn’t just give up when his opponents grab him in a clinch.

The only way that Danny Garcia can beat Peterson is if he knocks him out with a hard shot. He’s not going to be able to outwork him or run from him, because Garcia doesn’t throw a lot of punches and his movement is too slow.
