Floyd Mayweather Jr’s fans helping Floyd avoid the fight with Pacquiao

floyd666By Warren B: It’s hard to believe that the most exciting fight of all time won’t come into fruition simply because there are some who doesn’t want it to happen. And of all people in the world, it is Floyd Mayweather Jr. himself who doesn’t want to face the only eight division world champion of the world Manny “Pacman” Pacquiao. And worse, his fans are helping him avoid the fight by believing even the lamest excuse Floyd can give and justifying the most ridiculous demand that ever come out of Floyd’s loud mouth. But this is boxing, and in this world, any kind of people can exist, even the most deluded ones.

Floyd’s demand for Pac to leave Top Rank doesn’t hold ground. It is none of Floyd’s business who promotes Pacquiao, and he even goes far discussing Pac’s alleged tax problems. Did Ali, Leonard, Duran, Hagler, Hearns and other great fighters discourse on matters not in their business to discuss about their opponents? Nope. It is only Floyd who does that. Did these greats fought the best? Yes! Only Floyd doesn’t. And yet Floyd proclaimed himself the greatest. What a shame!

I can’t think of any valid reason why Floyd’s fans will help him avoid the fight. The only reason I can see is their fear of Floyd losing in the hands, err fists, of Pacman. I know they don’t want to see Floyd in the same shoes of Dela Hoya quitting while in stool and getting humiliated, or of Cotto and Margarito with their faces being rearranged by Pac, or worse of Hatton lying motionless on the canvass grasping for air. They don’t want Floyd to suffer the same thing, no way! And of course, Floyd’s health comes first and therefore, there’s no way he will face the Pacman. No amount of money will make Floyd meet Manny in the squared circle. The Pac-Floyd fight can generate the most PPV’s of all time, the fight will break all records known to mankind, but that is not enough to entice Floyd to enter the ring with Manny, not when his health is at stake.

One of Floyd’s reasons for ducking the fight is that Manny is not in Floyd’s level. That simply doesn’t hold ground. If that will be given weight, then Floyd and his fans should tell us first where is Manny compared to many of Floyd’s cherry picked opponents. Are the likes of Ortiz, Hatton, Cotto and Guerrero in Pac’s level? Are their PPV-drawing prowess (if they have any) come near Pac’s? And Floyd not recognizing Manny’s win over Rios for reason that (according to Floyd) Team Pac should have let Bam-bam fought at least twice at welter before is again ludicrous. Firstly, Bam-bam had already problems getting in weight for his lightweight bouts. Meaning, he is no longer a lightweight technically. And second, did Floyd ever think of that when he faced Marquez?

Why do I have to discuss all this things? It’s simply because Floyd’s fans keep on believing whatever he says, even the most ridiculous ones. Instead of helping make the fight happen, his fans are justifying Floyd’s reluctance to face Pac. And it is noticeable in this site with their illogical comments. As Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports put it, the fans are hurting the likelihood of Pacquiao-Mayweather fight. According to him; “Yet, his fans back him on those (Floyds ridiculous demands), unwittingly making it harder to get the fight done. If the public doesn’t put pressure on the promoters and urge the sides to talk seriously and work toward an agreement, the fight is never going to happen. By spewing Mayweather’s talking points, his fans are simply making it more unlikely that he and Pacquiao will ever meet.”
