Does Manny need to leave Top Rank for the Mayweather fight to happen?

pac7848By Juan dela Cruz: The latest demand made by Floyd Mayweather Jnr for the Pacquiao fight to happen is that Manny should leave Top Rank because, according to Floyd, he doesn’t want to do business with Arum. With this, is the fight finally going to happen? Will Floyd finally face Pacquiao if and when Manny leave Top Rank? After several demands were met, will this be the last to be made by Floyd? Historically speaking, this won’t happen.

I have already lost track of demands and excuses made by Floyd just to avoid Manny. The last as we all know is Floyd’s pressure for Manny to leave Bob Arum’s promotional company. Even Floyd fans believe Manny need not leave Top Rank for the fight to come into fruition. All it need is for Floyd to stop making excuses and demands after demands. For sure, Floyd will again make excuses and other demands if and when his last one is met by Pacquiao. Just recently, Pacquiao stated that Floyd has to wait until 2015 because he is still under contract with Top Rank up until December 2014. If ever Manny decided not to renew his contract, rest assured that a new demand will be made by Floyd, thus, again stalling the fight.

Some analyst are saying it is a waste of time if ever Pac will still try to meet Floyd’s new demand as Floyd really has no intention of facing the eight-division world champion. Even Marvelous Marvin Hagler, former undisputed middleweight champion who holds the highest KO percentage among all the middleweight champions in history (78% 52 KOs out of 62 wins), has this to say to ESPN’s Jeremy Shaap: “Here’s a guy (Mayweather) who wants to dictate to another person, and wants to tell you what he wants to do… you know… ‘I want you to take a drug test’ and all these things and whatever, and I think that Pacquiao is right,” Hagler said and further added, “Who are you? Who are you? I mean come on. If you want to fight, lets fight. Let’s stop all these nonsense. Let’s show the people out there; let’s give the people out there what they want to see, and they want to see a good fight, and hopefully none of the fighters get hurt. The public is demanding this kind of fight and I think it’s great for boxing.”

If really Floyd doesn’t want to do business with Arum, and if really this is not an excuse or just another demand, why is it that it did not came into picture during the past negotiations? Floyd even said before that he did signed the contract during the previous negotiations. Therefore, Manny being under Top Rank is not an issue before, but why is it now? Clearly, it is just another excuse for Floyd to avoid Pacquiao. Does Manny need to leave Top Rank to make the fight happen? Nope! Enough is enough! He had already met all of Floyd’s demands. This must be put to a stop. Manny should just move on. He had already proved that he is the real champion. He already cemented his legacy as an ALL TIME GREAT and it is the people that declared him as that and not as a self-proclamation as what the pretender is doing. Floyd will go down in history as a fighter who cherry picked his opponents and avoided all threats. He is several levels below Pacquiao, the whole world already knows that.
