Chisora thinks he’ll fight Deontay for WBC title in near future

deontay7809By Scott Gilfoid: EBU heavyweight champion Dereck Chisora (19-3. 13 KO’s) is all over the map with his predictions for himself as far as big fights and him fighting for a world title. This week Chisora said that he wants to try and get IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko to travel to fight him in Africa so that they could have a ‘Rumble in the Jungle’ fight. We’re talking pure pipe dream here for Chisora. Getting Wladimir in Africa is dream stuff.

Chisora’s vision with that fight is that he’d become Wladimir’s mandatory challenger, and his promoter would win the purse bid and then elect to stage the fight in Africa rather than the UK.

Chisora still thinks he could get a fight against Wladimir this year. But now Chisora also sees a scenario where Chris Arreola will beat Bermane Stiverne in their fight for the vacant WBC heavyweight title. Arreola will then fight Deontay Wilder and get knocked out. Chisora in turn will fight Deontay and knock him out, and then bring the WBC title back to the UK.

“Chris Arreola is going to win it [against Stiverne],” Chisora said to On the Ropes Boxing Radio. “He’ll fight Deontay Wilder and get knocked out by Deontay. Then I’ll fight Deontay and knock him out and bring the title back to Europe. I want to fight the younger brother [Wladimir Klitschko] for the IBF or WBO championship of the world. I want to try and make it by the Summer. I’m the guy that can bring David Haye out of retirement, because we’ve generated so much money to the British public.” Speaking about what happened in his loss to Haye, Chisora said “I wasn’t focused, so I lost. But now I’m focused.”

Chisora is just shooting ideas out there left and right in a scatter-gun approach, hoping that one of them will work out for him. I think he’ll be wrong on each one of his ideas. Arreola will lose to Stiverne, and that’ll set up Wilder-Stiverne. Deontay wins that fight. Once Deontay has the WBC title, he won’t waste his time fighting Chisora. Deontay will fight someone talented like Mike Perez in his first defense. There’s no way on Earth that Chisora will be fighting Wladimir by the Summer. How can Chisora do that when there’s talk of him fighting Tyson Fury in June?

At this point I think Chisora should pray that he can beat his next opponent Andriy Rudenko (24-0, 16 KO’s) in their fight next month on February 15th in London, UK. As bad as Chisora looked in his last fight against Ondrej Pala, I don’t think Chisora is good enough to assume that he’ll walk through Rudenko. If Pala was able to stagger Chisora left and fight then Rudenko can do that to Chisora as well and possibly stop him.
