Why hasn’t Pacquiao responded to Mayweather?

pac#5 - CopyBy Mr. Pennington: Over the past few days Floyd Mayweather Jr. has gone out of his way to publically humiliate Manny Pacquiao sending Christmas cards and posting pictures on twitter. While I found both humorous, this is Mayweather in my eyes attempting to put pressure on Pacquiao’s camp to fight.

Both fighters need an opponent for their upcoming fights, it seems that Mayweather is giving Pacquiao’s camp the leverage to take the issue public thus making the fight even more desirable. But as of the moment Pacquiao has yet to grab the rope and contribute to the snowball effect this type of social back forth can have.

In my eyes I see this as the only way the fight can be made. It would take for both fighters to take this issue public making personal and not about business. Mayweather also made remarks towards the newly crowned Marcos Miadana who responded (as he should) in timely fashion. If you want the fight you have to act like it. Even Khan goes out of his way to say that he has the stuff to beat Mayweather, if he can get enough people to believe that he has a chance at getting the fight.

I see no time better than the present for Pacquiao to come out and say something about Mayweather. Whether it be pictures of duck, chickens, whatever it may be, opportunity is knocking once again and Pacquiao should open the door.
In recent years I have only heard Pacquiao speak of Mayweather either when he has a fight signed or when asked. At this point and time neither have a fight signed, Mayweather is poking at Pacquiao as if he knows he will not reply.

If I am recalling correctly, the last time both men were in need of an opponent was when Mayweather went via twitter with the infamous “step up punk” quote. Many fans have drawn conclusions to what Mayweather’s intentions are by going at Pacquiao through social media.

Some say Mayweather has no intentions of ever fighting Pacquiao and is just throwing out smoke screens. That I don’t know the answer to, and neither does anyone other than Mayweather himself. But what I do know is that he seems to if nothing else be probing to get some sort of response from Pacquiao’s camp. What would have been better than after Mayweather sending out his Christmas card, Pacquiao sending something out about Mayweather that implied him ducking him? But as of yet we have nothing.

Some will say it beneath Pacquiao to go this route in order to get the fight. To that I would say get with the program. Social media is hands down the best way to get a guy in the ring other than showing up at the guy fight and grabbing the mic afterward. I don’t want to see on the coming days some calculated response generated and delivered by Arum.

I want Pacquiao to step out on his own and personally insult Mayweather in some way that implies him not wanting to fight him. I’m tired of people speaking for Pacquiao, social media offers a stage to anyone who has an opinion (as you are reading mine) to reach the masses.

There is no better way than at the moment if Pacquiao really want this fight than to get involved while the world is waiting. I think we can all agree that Pacquiao is a fantastic fighter, but if he lets this moment pass I will in my opinion say he never wanted the fight and only used Mayweather name to sale himself. This isn’t the first or second time Mayweather has went public attempting to humiliate Pacquiao, and even then there was no response form Pacquiao. If I were one of Manny’s advisers I would be elated that Mayweather had himself sparked the interesting in the fight happening. Step up Manny and make this a media war, if that’s what it takes then so be it.
