pac#10 - CopyBy Chris Williams: With Manny Pacquiao’s wife Jinkee expecting a delivery of a newborn around April, Pacquiao’s scheduled April 12th fight date may need to be pushed back to to May. His promoter Bob Arum was the one that came up with the April 12th fight date, which is a month in front of a much bigger fight date of May 3rd in which Floyd Mayweather Jr. is planning to fight on. But with Jinkee now about to have a baby, Pacquiao might need to move off the April 12th fight date unless Arum absolutely requires him to fight then.

When asked about Pacquiao fighting on the same date as Mayweather on May 3rd, Pacquiao said to Tempo “That would be the perfect date.”

Mayweather hasn’t yet picked an opponent for his next fight in May, but Amir Khan is one name that keeps surfacing. That’s not a choice that’s getting fans excited. But Mayweather also ruled out a fight against Pacquiao, saying that he’ll never fight him as long as he’s with Bob Arum. I don’t think Mayweather is going to change his mind about that. Pacquiao has still got one more year left with his contract with Arum, and after that who knows? Some boxing fans think Pacquiao will leave Arum at that time and go and become his own promoter.

I don’t think so. I see Pacquiao staying with Arum and finishing his career fighting the likes of Brandon Rios, Tim Bradley, Mike Alvarado, and Ruslan Provodnikov in revolving fights. If that’s Pacquiao destiny to fight only those guys, given that they’re part of Arum’s Top rank stable, then I don’t see why he would re-sign with him.

Arum doesn’t have a big enough stable to make it interesting for Pacquiao unless he’s into fighting the same guys for the remainder of his career. He’s already been doing that a lot. He’s had 4 fights with Juan Manuel Marquez, and Arum wants him to fight him for a 5th fight. If he can’t get that fight, then Pacquiao be fighting Bradley again. I guess we’ll see those two fight more than twice, especially if Marquez doesn’t agree to fight Pacquiao anymore, and he’s already said he won’t fight him again.
