Mayweather takes another shot at Pacquiao

By Chris Williams: Floyd Mayweather Jr. poked more fun at Manny Pacquiao today on his twitter account. A couple of days ago Mayweather put up a humerus tweet showing himself offering Pacquiao $40 million with Pacquiao turning him down, but then Pacquiao later getting knocked out in the next photo.

The last photo was Pacquiao praying and hoping Mayweather to call him with the previous offer. The tweet Mayweather made today has him standing next to what appears to be one of his fans wearing glasses. Mayweather sees the fan as looking like Pacquiao and Freddie Roach.

Here’s Mayweather’s tweet from today: “Manny Pacquaio mixed with Freddie Roach. Meet my friend, Manny Roach pic.”

The positive thing to get out of this is that at least Mayweather is thinking about Pacquiao. If he was ignoring him completely then you’d have to see this as a negative. But with Mayweather poking fun at Pacquiao twice this week, it makes you wonder if he’s thinking about giving him a shot. Who knows? Mayweather might want to help Pacquiao out now that he’s reportedly going through a difficult stage in his career with his losses and his recent IRS issues.

The only thing that I can see getting in the way of Mayweather committing to a fight against the Filipino is him not wanting to deal with Bob Arum. If Mayweather has his mind made up that he won’t fight Pacquiao until he leaves Arum then he might be waiting until at least the tail end of 2014, which is when Pacquiao’s contract with Arum runs out.

That’s if Pacquiao doesn’t renew or if he doesn’t owe Arum a fight due to him not fighting twice in 2013. Pacquiao only fought once in beating Brandon Rios, and it’s unclear whether he anything written in his contract with Arum where he has to fight at least twice per year. If that’s the case then his contract might go into early 2015 before he can leave.
