Chisora wants Deontay Wilder bout

chisora342By Scott Gilfoid: With Dereck Chisora’s hoped for fight against British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion David Price now up in smoke due to Price vacating his straps, it leaves Chisora empty handed. He had hoped to get the fight against Price and have it take place at the Copper Box in London, UK, but that sure as heck isn’t going to happen now.

Chisora also wanted to fight his former conqueror Tyson Fury, but he’s totally ignored him without even gracing him with a reply. I guess it might have something to do with the fact that Fury already beat the brakes off of Chisora two years ago. It might not be appealing for Fury to fight someone who has lost 4 out of his last 8 fights, like Chisora has. Now Chisora is calling out the talented American Deontay Wilder (30-0, 30 KO’s) for a fight. Deontay, it seems, is the third option for Chisora after Price and Fury chose not to fight him.

Here’s some of what Chisora said in his rambling letter: “I’m asking you man-to-man and hope that you have the honour and courage to accept my challenge and fight me…I’ll be honest, I don’t rate you. There’s only one way to prove me wrong and shut me up and that is to get in the ring with me.”

Chisora’s letter droned on for a little while longer, mentioning how he fought WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko in the past. Chisora didn’t mention how Vitali injured his left shoulder in the 2nd round and was forced to fight with just his right hand the rest of the way. Chisora also didn’t mention how he was knocked out by David Haye last year in the 5th round in a hopelessly one-sided fight.

Deontay is still waiting to see if the fight with Fury will happen. It doesn’t look like it’s going to because Fury’s side clammed up after Deontay’s promoter Richard Schaefer had his initial conversation with Fury’s promoter. I’m not holding my breath waiting for Fury’s side to make the fight happen with Deontay.

Deontay would likely make quick work of Chisora if that fight were to be made. We saw Chisora staggering around from the shots his recent 2nd tier opponent Ondrej Pala was landing on him. I’d hate to think what Deontay would do to Chisora once he landed just one of his huge right hands on the jaw. I doubt that Chisora would be staggering. I think he would skip that stage altogether and go straight to the face down on the canvas stage where the referee is counting him out. In this case, it wouldn’t matter if the referee halted the fight at the count of 9 instead of 10, because I don’t think an actual 10 count would be needed.
