deontay11 - CopyBy Scott Gilfoid: Like a lot of people, WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (45-2, 41 KO’s) couldn’t help but notice that unbeaten heavyweight talent Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29 KO’s) has been getting a lot of heat from some critics about his talent and opposition. Vitali sees Deontay’s critics as fighting a losing battle because nothing they say will bother Deontay.

It’s interesting that Vitali is mentioning Deontay. I wonder if he’s thinking of fighting him? Deontay is ranked #3 by the World Boxing Council. Vitali vs. Deontay would be absolutely huge in Germany. Can you picture two 6’7″ heavyweight knockout artists facing each other. It would a contest between two giant heavyweights with the highest KO percentages between them. Deontay has stopped 100 percent of his opponents, whereas Vitali has stopped 87.23 percent of his opposition.

Vitali said on his twitter:

I’m not sure what it is about Deontay that causes boxing fans to go after him. The guy is pushing all the right buttons with his career thus far. I mean, he’s ranked #3 WBC, #5 WBO, #6 WBA, #12 IBF, and within one to two victories of getting a title shot against Vitali or Wladimmir Klitschko.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again, if Deontay can score another 20+ consecutive knockouts to get his KO record to 50-0 with 50 KO’s, he’s going to be an incredibly wealthy fighter. If can beat the Klitschkos, David Haye, and the other top heavyweights in the division in the next 5-7 years, he’s going to be swimming with cash.

Deontay has impressive 1st round knockout wins over Audley Harrison and Sergey Liakhovich, and those wins showed pretty clearly the the kind of talent that Deontay has. No one has knocked out Liakhovich in the 1st round before, and that win wasn’t a fluke thing by any means.

This month Deontay will have a high visibility fight on Showtime against Nicolai Firtha (21-10-1, 8 KO’s) at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA. This is going to be a real treat for American fans to see this fight.
