brook6666By Dean Bain: On the 26th October Kell ‘special K’ Brook takes on Ukrainian’s number 1 welterweight Vyacheslav Senchenko at the Motorpoint Arena, Sheffield

This will be Brooks 31st fight but I can’t help but think after 30 victories Brook should be fighting someone with more creditability than the Ukrainian. Brook has so much talent and could be a great within the welterweight division but he really does need to start fighting people in the top 10

Senchenko is a former world champion beating another Ukrainian fighter Yuriy Nuzhnenko. Nuzhneko was a very limited fighter who had been fighting against opponents who were hand picked to get him a world title fight by the easiest possible route. In fact in the fight after the Senchenko fight he was defeated by points from Matthew Hatton, Someone who Brook had schooled over the 12 rounds

Senchenko then went on to make three successful defences against fighters not even ranked in the top 70, he then ordered to fight Paul Malignaggi. Malignaggi was the best fighter that Senchenko had fought in his career but still is not a world class fighter. His showing against Broner maybe the best of his career so far. Senchenko was stopped in the 9th round which ended his reign as champion

Next up was Ricky Hatton, in his prime Hatton would have destroyed Senchenko but after his eating and drug problems along with the wars during his career Hatton’s body just couldn’t cope with shots Senchenko was landing. The thing is Hatton was well pastit by fight but until Senchenko hit Hatton with the body punch that won him the fight Hatton was ahead on the score cards, so what can Brook who is in his prime do to this 2nd rate Ukrainian fighter

I can see Brook just being too quick and powerful for Senchenko, his movement will cause problems and he will be hitting Senchenko constantly with 2 and 3 punch combinations. For me it will be finished in the first 6 rounds of the fight with Senchenko being down at least twice

After the fight and probable victory what does Brook then do?

A 2014 world title fight is a must for Brook, he had 3 fights with Alexander called off previously due to injury. Before going in with one of the champions I’d like to see him fight Maidana, yes a very dangerous fight but one I think would suit Brook. Maidana is fantastic in a brawl but against technically good fighters like Brook he does struggle, a win against Maidana would set him up mentally for a fight with Alexander. Maidana first has a fight against Broner which I think he will lose so maybe Brook can even get him over to the UK and fight in a sold out Motorpiont Arena

First thing is to take care of Senchenko

Prediction – Brook with a stoppage in round 4-6
