By Scott Gilfoid: Tickets for the November 23 fight between IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) and challenger George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s) sold out on Tuesday after only 11 minutes for their clash at the Phones 4u Arena in Manchester, United Kingdom. It’s surprising that this fight is so popular considering that Groves hasn’t really anyone that you can call a good fighter as of now, and his best win over James DeGale from 2 years ago was a controversial one.

Froch is coming off an unimpressive win over Mikkel Kessler in their rematch last May. Froch would have lost that fight had Kessler not waited until the 5th round to actually start fighting. It was one of the strangest fights that you’ll ever see where the more talented guy in Kessler is just standing and absolutely nothing for 4 rounds, and then all of a sudden he starts fighting in the 5th and dominates the rest of the fight. Kessler blew it because he would have won the fight had he had the sense enough to start throwing punches when the fight started instead of looking he didn’t want to be there.

Froch said to ESPN “Every time I hear that tickets have sold out so fast, I have to pinch myself. To fill an arena that’s not in my hometown, but still in a fantastic fighting city like Manchester, it’s humbling…the fans are in for a real treat.”

Yeah, we’ve heard it all before from Froch, and I see him getting whipped again. Groves is a better fighter than Froch at this stage in his carer. Groves is in his prime at 25, whereas Froch seems to have slipped a notch at 36. I see this as a fairy one-sided fight with Groves winning every round. The problem that Froch has is that Groves is better than him in every department. Groves has a better jab, he’s A LOT faster, he’s quicker on his feet, he fights with more ring intelligence and he packs more power with his punches.

Groves has better power with both hands, and he seems to have a better chin as well. I really don’t see Froch winning any of the rounds in this fight unless it’s a case where the judges just give him rounds based on him landing a small handful of punches.

Groves best wins this far has been against Jams DeGale, Noe Gonzalez, Kenny Anderson, Glen Johnson, Paul Smith and Francisco Sierra.

Froch has won his last three fights since losing to Andre Ward in the Super Six tournament in December 2011. Froch has since beaten Yusaf Mack, Lucian Bute and Kessler.
