Fury hoping his dad will see him fight David Haye on September 28th

fury555By Scott Gilfoid: Undefeated heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s) is badly hoping that his father John Fury will be able to be released from prison to sit at ringside for Fury’s important fight this month against former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) at the Manchester Arena in the UK. His father was given an 11-year prison sentence for gauging another man’s eye out during a fight.

Tyson Fury says that his dad is already being given time off from prison each month, and he’s hoping that one of those days will be on September 28th so that he’ll be there for the Haye fight.

Fury said to the Telegraph.co.uk “He’s starting to get home leave now, five days a month. His next home leave is on the day of the fight, and he just needs to get it passed by the governor of the prison. It would mean a lot to have him there. It’s the biggest fight of my life.”

This sounds like a bad situation. I’m not sure that it would be a good thing for John Fury to be at ringside that night, because it’s not looking good for Tyson Fury in this fight. I mean, this isn’t the type of fight that Fury will be able to tough out in a Rocky type of way by taking shots from some slow heavyweight with moderate power. Haye hits too hard for Fury, and he’s so much faster than him that it’s not even funny.

We’ve already seen that Fury has chin issues in some of his other fights, and now he’s about to go to the head of the class against Haye. I don’t see how it would be a good thing if Fury’s father were there at the fight, I really don’t.

It’s probably not going to change anything at all in the fight, and if anything, it might cause Fury to get knocked out even quicker. I can just see him getting motivated by having his father at ringside, and then walking straight into one of Haye’s big right hands. It won’t matter what Fury’s motivation is in this fight. It’s about skills, speed and power, and Fury is second best in all of those categories in this fight. The only thing he has going for him is size, and he doesn’t even know how to use his size to his advantage.
