Deontay willing to fight Chisora in Haye’s gym

wilder99By Scott Gilfoid: In response to British heavyweight Dereck Chisora’s interest in facing unbeaten heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder (29-0, 29 KO’s) in a fight, Deontay is now inviting Chisora to come over to David Haye’s gym to fight him if he’s willing enough to do it. Deontay says he’s even willing to come over to Chisora’s gym to fight him. So the question is will Chisora taking Deontay up on the offer? My guess is the answer is a big NO!.

This is from Deontay’s trainer Jay Deas:

“I think Derek should focus on the task at hand with Gerber. We have a saying, “only a fool looks past what is in front of him.” Derek has been on twitter asking how Deontay couldn’t travel for a fight with him but can for sparring with Haye. Knowing the legal system as well as Derek does, he should know circumstances change over the course of months. Deontay couldn’t travel before but now can. Deontay wishes me to convey that travel is not an issue as he is currently in London and will be for a few more days. He will gladly meet Derek in the Haye gym or even in Derek’s gym to fight. Tell Deontay when and where and he’ll be there. My suggestion is that Frank Warren put up 200k and whichever of the two walks out of the gym upright gets it. I am awaiting Frank’s call and wire transfer info.”

This will be fun to watch. I hope someone brings a cellphone camera to see the action. I don’t expect it to last for more than a round at best before Deontay smacks Chisora with a big overhand right hand that sends him down kissing the canvas face first. But honestly don’t see Chisora accepting the 6’7” Deontay’s offer. He’s too, too quick and much too powerful for the round-bodied Chisora to take up that offer.

Chisora has a fight against Germany’s Edmond Gerber (23-1, 14 KO’s) on September 21st for the vacant EBU heavyweight title at the Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Hackney Wick, in London, United Kingdom. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Gerber smacks Chisora around and scores a knockout. That’s going to be a really tough fight for Chisora, and believe me, anything can happen in this one. It’s truly a toss-up fight.

I don’t see why Chisora wouldn’t face Deonay. Chisora will get some valuable sparring with the next world heavyweight champion, and it might even help Chisora a little as long as Deontay doesn’t knock him out too fast. I mean, Chisora might be okay if they have Deontay wear extra large gloves and have Chisora wear the head gear, but even then I think there’s a good chance Deontay will smash him out if he goes all out.
