Chisora excited about his wins over Gerber and Malik Scott

By Scott Gilfoid: British heavyweight Dereck Chisora (18-4, 12 KO’s) is suddenly really excited about the direction his career is going in after his wins over Malik Scott and Edmund Gerber in his last two fights. To Chisora, he feels that the wins have turned his career around to the point where he’s going to be beating a lot of fighters from now on.

Chisora will be fighting on November 30th against an opponent still to be determined at the Copper Box Arena, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Hackney Wick, London, United Kingdom.

Chisora said “I said that I would be destroying these guys from now on, and that’s what I’ve done in my last two fights…This is the new Del Boy, and this time I’m on the road to win a world heavyweight title.”

I’m not sure that Chisora is putting things in perspective here. We are talking about Gerber and Malik Scott, aren’t we? This isn’t like Chisora beat Deontay Wilder, the Klitschko brothers, Chris Arreola, Bermane Stiverne and Kubrat Pulev.

We’re still talking about Chisora having beaten Scott and Gerber, and it’s strange and sad at the same time that Chisora would start seeing himself accomplishing something big after two pretty much empty wins. Chisora was exposed by David Haye, Vitali Klitschko, Tyson Fury and Robert Helenius in the past. I don’t see anything changing with that. Those losses are still there the last time I checked, and Chisora still hasn’t avenged one of them.

I don’t think Chisora is going to be getting a title shot against the Klitschkos again anytime soon; not unless they’re feeling charitable towards him. Nah, it’s not going to happen. We’re talking maybe Chisora might get another world title shot if he wins all of his fights for the next 3-4 years, and that’s only if he fights quality opponents. If he stuffs his record with Gerber types, then Chisora is going to be waiting eons for a title shot, because I just don’t see the sanctioning bodies pushing him up to the top of the heap based on domestic level wins or victories over little known Euro level opponents.

I can’t wait to see who Chisora will be fighting on November 30th. My guess is it’ll be someone like Tom Dallas, Sam Sexton or maybe Martin Rogan. Chisora can beat those guys easily, but it won’t do anything as far as getting him pushed up the world rankings to put him in position for another world title shot.
