Some REAL Truth about Amir Khan

khan54By Mo Khan: Amir Khan, Real or Delusion? It takes a complete package to make a great fighter, basic skills, advanced skills, offensive skills, defensive skills, physical strength / ability / agility, a strong punch, quick jab, a good chin, quick to adapt to any fighter, discipline to execute a fight plan, can read an opponent fight plan, HEART and SMART.

Some Straight Facts:

1. Good Fighter as an Amateur, would be safer to stay there to this day.

2. Great Physical Attributes, he has the height, reach and condition to be a tab more than his opponents.

3. Not SMART. Khan absolutely never uses his head to think ahead or know whats really going on. He is NOT capable of this. NEVER…This is his downfall…not the chin.

4. HEART: he confuses showing heart with being naïve. Because he does NOT really understand the danger, he is naïve to the fact that many things can be avoided but yet he can be effective.

5. Defensive Skills: he was never taught defensive skills, has none. His offense is his defense. I believe at an earl age he was not taught defense.

6. Basic Skills: No defense, too late to learn even from Hunter. An example, when Zab Judah fought Danny Garcia, Judah was very disciplined to keep his right hand tucked to his chin, even if he was trying to throw a combination. Amir Khan’s problem is he has no discipline. He starts a combination and slowly he will drop his right hand after the second punch and it will stay there.

7. Strong Punch: Amir has decent power to gain respect from anyone, but because he never will sit down on his punch, he does not get the KNOCKOUT power. This means he throws most of his punches with his hands only, NO Shoulder, NO Flat Foot power. He has the ability to HURT ANYONE but the only time he sits on his punches is when he is close and he DIGS to the body. Naturally you have to be flatfooted at that time to throw a powerful body shot.

8. CHIN: has a better chin than most people give him credit for, A fighter that has no chin, should be sleeping like the PACMAN did when he gets hit. The truth is, it might seem that every hard punch that would connect to his chin will put him away, but reality shows that IRONICALLY, he is able to get up and fight. It’s what he does when he gets hurt or what he does when he gets up is the REAL problem. His first knockout loss to Breidis PRESCOTT was an example of getting hit hard and getting up….but its what he does after being hurt is the problem. For, normally, he should have NEVER got up from a punch from a strong puncher just seconds into a fight. The other problem is Amir Khan does not have a way of hiding that he is hurt, when he gets hit, you know he is hurt. Look at Danny Garcia, he is now exposed by Zab Judah, exposed that when Garcia is hurt, he will just stand there with no reaction, but will not move. Now Matthyse will be looking for that guy that just stands there and don’t move after he hits him.

SUMMARY:

Amir Khan needs to spend EXTRA time in the gym with Virgil Hunter, lots and lots, and more and more, and even more of time in the guy with Virgil. I believe that he can learn the skills of not dropping his hand when throwing a combination and is also prepared for a counter in a combination.

He MUST also learn to stand his ground, believe in his power and ability when he is being pressured. He MUST learn to sit on punches to gain more power in his punches and respect to where the opponents will not drive forward to pressure him.

I believe he can overcome the pressure if he can start thinking and start taking the boxing game as a CHESS game, where every move counts, BUT most of all you have to predict your opponents move even before they move…..like Floyd Mayweather. This MEANS, he has to get SMART.

Remember If Amir Khan had fought Matthysse and got knocked out, we all would have said, he got no chin, but Peterson gets stopped, someone with a decent chin and we accept it.

If Amir Khan stop BLA BLA his mouth and go into the SHOLIN style of deep concentration and training, he can become Mayweather’s, BEST opponent YET!
