may2222By Dan Ambrose: For boxing fans to get a good preview of the September 14th mega fight between unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26 KO’s) and who Oscar De La Hoya sometimes refers to as the “Rooster” WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s), the ALL ACCESS preview of Mayweather vs. Canelo will be televised by SHOWTIME at 10 pm ET/7 pm PT in THE ONE.

You can expect to see a little bit of the Mayweather-Canelo 11-city tour footage most notably when they cruised through Los Angeles, California. That was really the only city of the tour where Mayweather Jr. took off the gloves and gave the red-haired Canelo, and De La Hoya a little taste of what Mayweather thought of them.

Mayweather pointed out to De La Hoya that he’s been beating all of Golden Boy’s fighters one after another each time they present a Golden Boy opponent that’s supposed to beat him. Canelo is the latest, and no doubt not the last guy that Golden Boy trots out from their stable that’s supposed to be the best thing since sliced bread.

Canelo has a resume littered with weak opposition, and the only quality opponent that he faced, Austin Trout, appeared to beat him in a controversial fight in San Antonio, Texas in front of a huge pro-Canelo crowd. Mayweather was wisely chose to have the fight staged in Las Vegas, Nevada.

You can expect De La Hoya to talk at length tonight on SHOWTIME about how Canelo is the future of boxing, and how he’s going to be the biggest name. It’s going to look a little sad if Canelo gets exposed like Golden Boy’s last fighter Robert Guerrero did when he faced Mayweather Jr. last May or how Golden Boy’s Victor Ortiz did. These were all guys with flat-footed fighting styles similar to Canelo, and all of them got exposed badly. My guess we’ll see the same thing happen on September 14th with Canelo being made to look his age.
