Mayweather-Pacquiao back and forth games

floyd#30By Rusty Nate: Imagine we are sitting at Wimbledon Centre Court or the final of the US Open. Roger Federer serving for the start of the biggest grudge match in tennis history against arch nemesis Rafael Nadal, the anticipation is usually sky high; the avid tennis fans are literally jumping up and down on their sofa’s waiting for the first strike.

Now replace Federer with Floyd Mayweather Jr., replace Nadal with Manny Pacquiao and replace the ball with excuse after excuse and reason after reason. THAT is what we have been watching over the past 4 years. One fighter slamming a serve across the net with the most ridiculous reason not to fight each other and the opposite man trying his best to return serve with an equally hard and amazing looking excuse to get the upper hand.

The recent story about Manny signing to Olympic style drug testing for the Rios fight is nothing more than another return of serve from one of the two fighters to show the world that he has taken the initiative to try and make the Mayweather, Pacquiao fight a reality.

I am not a hater of either fighter, I love both their fights and I’d really love to see them fight each other even now, but I do think Pacquiao has played this latest stunt very well. If he beats Rios having gone through the testing then the ball is in Mayweather’s court and its a difficult one to return for Floyd without agreeing to fight Pac. If he loses to Rios then he retires leaving the world with the knowledge that he was indeed willing to do the drug tests that Mayweather sighted as the problem with making the fight over the past few years.

I don’t think it really matters now. This has dragged on far too long and any fight between the two would be a shadow of what it could have been in 2009/2010. I dont agree with people that have said “why fight Pacquiao now, when he has lost to Bradley and Marquez” because a lot of fighters have lost over the years and styles do make fights. I say why not fight, even now we’d all pay for it!

Just stop playing tennis guys! There’s professionals for that, we want to see fights!
