Ishe Smith vs Carlos Molina for IBF title on September 14th in Las Vegas, Nevada

By AJ Betancourt: IBF Titlist Ishe Smith (25-5 11 KO’s) will be facing Carlos Molina (21-5-2 6 KO’s) on “The One” before Danny “Swift” Garcia and Lucas Matthysse meet in the ring. Smith won his title in a bout against the former IBF titlist Cornelius Bundrage last February in beating him by a 12 round majority decision.

Now on Sept. 14, Ishe Smith will be defending his title for the first time against the Mexican fighter Carlos Molina as a part of the undercard. This bout was also going to be before Erislandy Lara and Austin Trout meet in the ring but there was no truth to that fight being made according to Leonard Ellerbe the CEO of Mayweather promotions.

I’m sure many hardcore boxing fans were upset and disappointed that the fight wasn’t made because that would have made the event even bigger and possibly more pay per view sales but that’s just my opinion. But I guess you can say Ishe Smith vs Carlos Molina makes up for it, even though I still think Trout vs Lara would have been a better fight and fans would have got their moneys worth. Either way we still got Danny Garcia facing off against Matthysse for Garcias WBA and WBC titles, then the grand event of Floyd “Money” Mayweather vs Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. But the bout of Smith vs Molina could be a good one. We’ll just have to see.
