Froch: Groves isn’t showing me enough respect for my accomplishments

froch7By Scott Gilfoid: IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch (31-2, 22 KO’s) is still bent out of shape because he feels his next opponent unbeaten #1 WBO, #2 WBA, #6 IBF, George Groves (19-0, 15 KO’s) hasn’t been giving him the kind of respect that he’s looking for. Froch and Groves will be fighting before the year, but they’re still waiting for their promoter Eddie Hearn to line up a date and venue for the fight.

Froch said this about Groves as quoted by Talksport “He’s not showing me enough respect for what I’ve done. He’s talking about me believing my hype, when he should be showing me some respect, If he wants to be a bit cheeky and aloof it’s my job to punish him and that’s what I’ll do.”

Oh boy, I think Froch is starting to lose it. Why in the heck does Groves need to crawl and scrape on his knees before Froch? It’s not as if Andre Dirrell or Andre Ward were kissing Froch’s backside in the lead up to their fights, so I wonder why Froch is expecting the royal treatment from Groves.

It makes me wonder if this is an age thing where Froch figures that a younger guy like the 25-year-old Groves should be paying him respect simply because he’s 36. I hate to be the one to break this to Froch, but that’s not how it goes in boxing.

Younger guys don’t done kissing backside of older fighters just because they’re older. Instead of going that, the younger lions put the older lions out of their misery by ripping them apart, and showing no respect.

That’s just part of the sport. The old guys get beaten by the young guys, and I expect that to happen with Froch and Groves. Froch is about to get beat by Groves, and respect has nothing to do with it.
