broner111By Allan Fox: WBA welterweight champion Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) is saying his next fight could be a pay per view bout on Showtime. Broner has already set out his plans for his next two fights. He wants to face Argentinian sluggers Marcos Maidana (34-3, 31 KO’s) and Lucas Matthysse (34-2, 32 KO’s) in back to back fights.

The Matthysse bout would be contingent on Matthysse beating WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia in their fight on September 14th in Las Vegas, Nevada.

If Matthysse wins that fight, and it’s very possible that he will, Broner wants Matthysse after that.

Broner said to Showtime “They’re talking pay per view. Let’s make it happen…My first pick is Matthysse, but he’s got a fight already, but Danny Garcia, I’m pulling for. I want to fight Matthysse. He’s the guy everybody’s afraid of, but if I got to fight a Maidana, I’ll go get a Maidana. They both got losses. If Matthysse wins [against Danny Garcia],tell him to line up, because I’m going to f*** Maidana up first, then I’m going to go get Matthysse. I’ll fight anybody. If Maidana wants to fight me, I’ll f*** him up.”

Broner’s fight with Maidana could be a pay per view bout on Showtime on November 9th. Although Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer is being highly secretive about which fighters will be on the November 9th PPV card on Showtime, it seems pretty logical that it’ll be Broner facing Maidana in the headline bout.

It’ll be Broner’s first PPV bout if that’s what indeed happens. The fight might not bring in big numbers in terms of PPV buys, because Maidana isn’t a huge star, and Broner has never headlined a PPV event. However, Broner has pulled in big ratings for his past fights on HBO and Showtime, so there’s a possibility that he could bring in respectable numbers on PPV.
