lundy12By Jim Dower: Hank Lundy (23-3-1, 11 KO’s) ended a two-fight losing streak by dominating Ajose Olusegun (31-2, 14 KO’s) in beating him by a surprising lopsided 10 round unanimous decision on Friday night at the Rockingham Park, in Salem, New Hampshire, USA. The final judges’ scores were 100-90, 98-92 and 98-92.

The 100-90 score wasn’t realistic to what happened in the ring tonight. It was a closer than that. Lundy definitely won, but he certainly didn’t win every round of the fight either.

After the fight, Lundy said “I want [Lucas] Matthysse.”

Lundy was able to hurt in the 5th and 7th rounds with big left hands. Up until the 4th, Olusegun had been the one backing Lundy up and pressuring him. However, starting in the 4th round, Lundy started nailing Olusegun with big left hands over and over again. Lundy normally fights out of the orthodox fighting stance, but he changed things around in this fight and opted to fight the entire fight at southpaw to match Olusegun’s southpaw stance. In the 5th round, Lundy tagged Olusegune with three big left lands to the head that staggered him.

Lundy continued to dominate Olusegun with hard jabs and powerful shots that made Olusegun not want to throw punches. Lundy went from counter punching to initiating the action in the 7th round, and he was able to hurt Olusegun again with some hard left hands.

In the 9th, Lundy once again hurt Olusegun with a left hand that had him holding on.

The 10th round was uneventful with Lundy dominating the action and nailing Olusegun with pretty much everything he was throwing.

After the fight, Olusegun’s body language said it all. He knew he had lost even before the judges’ scorecards were announced. Olusegun’s face was swelled up and he looked like a beaten man.

Other boxing results on the card:

Ryan Kielczweski KO 5 Miguel Soto
Russell Lamour KO 1 Aquilano Brandao
