Haye hoping to get Wladimir or Vitali fight after Fury bout

haye1By Scott Gilfoid: If former WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) is able to beat Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s) in their fight on September 28th in Manchester, UK, Haye is hoping that one of the Klitschko brothers, Vitali or Wladimir, will choose to fight him.

This is the reason why he chose to fight the 6’9” Fury, because in his mind it will catapult him into a fight with one of the huge Ukrainian Klitschkos.

Haye said to Sky Sports, “After I’ve won this fight, I’ll be looking to get a world title shot with Vitali or Wladimir Klitschko and that’s why I’m taking this fight…it gets me closer to fighting a big guy, getting used to having a big guy all over me and when it comes to fighting Vitali or Wladimir it is not going to be a stress.”

Haye has got to be deluded if he thinks Fury is going to be any kind of preparation for a fight against Wladimir or Vitali. This is basically a wasted fight for Haye, because he’s not going to learn anything for a fight with the Klitschkos because they are so different than Fury and so much more talented.

Fury is basically a slapper with little defense and who likes to fight in close and lay all over his opponents with his weight. The Klitschkos have good power with either hands, have a much better jab than the pawing one that Fury has, and they don’t fight on the inside.

If anything, they clinch on the inside and wait for the referee to pull them apart so that they can continue to jab and pound their shorter opponents from the outside.

Haye already got his chance against Wladimir two years ago and he blew it, losing by a 12 round unanimous decision while playing it safe by running all around the ring to avoid contact. Wladimir isn’t going to volunteer to fight him again, and Vitali has no interest in taking the fight.

For this reason, Haye is going to have to wait a lot longer than immediately after his fight with Fury before he gets another crack at fighting one of the Klitschkos.
