Deontay Wilder wants to KO Liakhovich, and keep knockout streak going

wilder991By Scott Gilfoid: Unbeaten heavyweight contender Deontay Wilder (28-0, 28 KO’s) doesn’t feel like he’d in any kind of race to destroy his next opponent Siarhei Liakhovich (25-5, 16 KO’s) quickly in their fight coming up on August 9th in the United States.

Wilder doesn’t feel that he has to improve on the 9th round stoppage that Liakhovich’s last two opponents Robert Helenius and Bryant Jennings have gotten in beating him. It’s not a competition between Wilder and those guys about how quickly he crush Liakhovich.

The only thing that the 27-year-old Deontay is concerned about is knocking Liakhovich out, period. Deontay wants to keep his 28-fight knockout streak going by making the 37-year-old Liakhovich his 29th victim on August 9th.

Deontay said to RingTV, “I’m going in there to knock him out and I’m going in there to keep my streak going and basically that’s it.”

I have no doubts that Deontay will record his 29th knockout on August 9th, and I also see him knocking Liakhovich out a lot earlier than the light hitting Jennings and the 6’6” Helenius did.

It took those guys 9 rounds, but I see Deontay getting Liakhovich out within three rounds even if Liakhovich plays it safe by running for the whole time.

You can’t run from the 6’7” Deontay because his wingspan is too long, and he’s too tall. When you think you’re out of reach from his shots, he catches you with a punch that comes from LONG distance that sends you flying.

That was what happened with Deontay’s opponent Kelvin Price last December, and I can see the same thing happening with Liakovich if he plays it like Price did by fighting scared.

Liakhovich will make for a good scalp for Deontay to add to his growing collection. Liakhovich is a former WBO heavyweight champion, and he’s been around. Having his name on Deontay’s resume will look good, and the fight should help Deontay because he’ll learn some stuff before he swats Liakhovich to the canvas for a brutal KO.
