matthysse22By Mohammed Abulkhair: Moments ago Richard Schaefer CEO of Golden Boy promotions announced that a match between Lucas “the machine” Matthysse (34-2, 32Kos) vs. Danny “swift” Garcia (26-0, 16Kos) was finalized and will be set on the Sept 15th ppv card between Floyd Mayweather jr, and Canelo Alvarez.

Showtime has really set the record high for this PPV, Dan Rafael from ESPN boxing said on his Twitter “I’m starting to think this card actually does have a chance at the record”. You cannot deny that there is a chance that this will break the ppv record previously set by Floyd Mayweather and Osacar De La Hoya.

These are two of the best fights that can be made at the moment, and to have them on the same ppv will definitely boost the ppv numbers up even though it is set at $70. This fight will show who is supreme of the jr. welterweight division. Danny Garcia who is the current WBC, WBA, and Ring magazine Jr. Welterweight Champion will be putting it all on the line for this fight.

Matthysse Who is the WBC interim Jr. Welterweight Champion has been waiting for this shot for the past two years. I was a little skeptical that Garcia was going to take the fight. I thought he might have opted out and taken a rematch with Zab Judah. This fight will be tough for both, as both have decent skills.

However, Matthysse possess the power edge of the two. I am not saying Garcia has no power, but you have to give it to Lucas as he has knocked down everybody he has fought. In their last fights Danny Garcia seemed to struggle at the end with Zab Judah as he was hit clean and was shook in the last couple rounds.

Matthysse’s last fight he put on a clinical performance against Lamont Peterson. Lamont Peterson who has never been knocked out was down and out in less than four rounds. They both have impressive records, however, the two losses on Matthysse’s record are controversial and came against Devon Alexander and Zab Judah.

Garcia has some impressive wins against Amir Khan, and Zab Judah. I would not call the Eric Morales fights impressive because that was a way past his prime Morales on both occasions. This fight has knockout written all over it, as both are come forward fighters who like to slug.

Matthysse should be the favorite because of his power and solid chin. I believe that Matthysse will tire out Garcia by going to his body then eventually catching him with a punch.
