Audley Harrison wants Chisora next in September

By Scott Gilfoid: Fresh off of his controversial 6th round stoppage win over American Malik Scott (35-1-1, 12 KO’s) tonight, Dereck Chisora (17-4, 11 KO’s) says he wants to fight a big name for his next bout on September 21st. Well, Chisora needn’t search any further. 41-year-old Audley Harrison says he’d be open to fighting Chisora in September.

Here’s what Audley had to say on his twitter tonight moments after Chisora’s win over Scott:

Audley would make an interesting fight with his size, reach and power. He wouldn’t get taken out quickly like he did in losses to Deontay Wilder and David Haye, because Chisora isn’t a big puncher and he doesn’t have the same kind of hand speed as those two fighters have. Audley would be perfect for Chisora because he could prove whether he deserves to be in the same league as Deontay and Haye by looking to prove himself by stopping him quickly.

I think Audley would be a perfect opponent for Chisora. I mean, who else is Chisora going to fight if not Audley. David Price likely won’t fight him and neither will David Haye or Tyson Fury. What other British heavyweights are left. Hughie Fury won’t likely take the fight because he’s still fighting guys with losing records, so you can’t count on him to face Chisora.

If they pick an actual contender for Chisora to fight he’ll be putting himself in a situation where he might very lose unless they pick a soft fringe contender. Malik Scott was ranked #15 WBA, and he was beating Chisora up until the knockdown tonight.

Scott was out-boxing Chisora and had won the previous round before getting knocked down with a rabbit punch in the 6th. What big name can a heavyweight with Chisora’s talent face without tremendous risk of him getting beaten.
