Why is Marquez avoiding Pacquiao?

marquez4543By Gerardo Granados: After three great fights, in which the boxing fans weren’t able to agree on who was the winner, a brutal knock out put to rest all the controversy on who won the fourth but many fans keep on arguing the reasons of the unexpected outcome. Once Juan Manuel Marquez was eager to get another shot at Manny Pacquiao, but now he feels there is no sense in making a fifth fight. Is it because he is playing it safe and smart or is it he is afraid to lose if he gives Pacquiao another shot at glory so he can redeem himself.

WBO welterweight belt holder Tim Bradley has the right tools to defeat the veteran interim WBO light welterweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez. Tim has average power but is young, has good chin, great stamina, has the size edge and also has better speed than Juan Manuel; Bradley might be able to outwork and out-box Marquez to win by decision. So, it is okay to take a low profit and risky fight against Bradley but it is not okay to take an historic big purse for a Mexican fighter and engage a fighter he has defeated in his last two bouts?

Why did Pacman gave Marquez one chance after another? Manny could have chose not to fight him but he might have felt the pressure of the media and boxing fans that wanted to see one more fight. Pacquiao gave Marquez the fourth try and Juan Manuel seemed to be very pleased, then Manny lost and made no excuses; now Marquez feels he owes nothing to Pacquiao; maybe he also believes he doesn’t owe fans either.

Do the reader want to see a fifth fight between these two lion kings? Would it be a good business? Does Manny deserve a chance? Is Juan Manuel avoiding the fight because he is scared to lose? Maybe Marquez has lost the fire or could it be that fame has caught up with him and now he thinks he can dictate the terms for his next fights but if he avoids Pacman he certainly wont risk to lose that fight but will boxing fans respect his decision?

In one interview Marquez stated that there is not enough money to buy a new brain. So could it be possible that he is concern about his health if he battles Pacquiao once more time? A friend of mine thinks there is no use for a fifth bout but I disagree with him because Marquez has reached stardom due his fights against the Congressman Pacquiao and if he had not fought him he would not be as famous as he is today.

Do the reader believe Marquez has a valid reason for not fighting Pacquiao?
