haye #2By Scott Gilfoid: Peter Fury, the trainer/uncle of unbeaten heavyweight contender Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s), is saying that they are absolutely ready to fight David Haye (26-2, 24 KO’s) despite Haye’s claim that they had turned down a 50/50 offer to take the fight.

Peter Fury says they are ready to sign the contract to make the fight right now. Yesterday, Fury said on his twitter that he wanted an 80/20 split for a fight with Haye.

Peter said thesun.co.uk “We are ready to, David’s team say they are ready, so let’s get it on. We are ready to sign and as far as we’re concerned the fight is 100 percent on from our side. We are even willing to fly to London immediately to get the contract signed.”

With Peter saying they want the fight and Haye saying they turned down a 50/50 offer, you have to wonder which one of these guys are telling the truth. If Haye is correct and they did turn down a 50/50 offer, then it would appear that they’ve had second thoughts about walking away from the deal.

I don’t know how they could turn down that kind of cash because Fury isn’t going to make that kind of money fighting anyone else in the UK, and the only other fight that he can get that would make similar money would be if Fury were to fight WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko or IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko.

I doubt that a fight against either of them would pay Fury the same kind of cash that he’d get against Haye, so he might as well take the fight even it probably means he’s going to get knocked out in the 1st or 2nd round by Haye. It’s better for Fury to take a big payday in getting knocked cold then it would be for him to fight someone like Kubrat Pulev and get beaten up by him for less money.
