mundine653658By Michael Dickie Twitter @MichaelDickie – Sugar Shane Mosley, after coming out of retirement and winning a close decision over Pablo Cesar Cano, now finds himself with some very appealing options in front of him.

One of which is the potential to travel to Australia and fight three time World Champion Anthony “The Man” Mundine in a junior middleweight showdown that the Australian public are already calling a Mega Fight.

Mosley, 41, would earn himself a significant pay day against Mundine, while also being involved in a fight which could potentially go down as one of Australia’s biggest nights ever seen in its proud boxing history. All of this for Mosley, in just his second fight of his comeback.

There is no doubt that styles make fights and this contest would be a boxing fans dream match up. Both fighters have lightning hand speed and tremendous workrates, Mundine’s cobra fast left jab is one of the best seen in boxing today and couple that with his straight shooting right hand, Mosley will have his hands full.

With Mundine being the younger of the two, at 38, and Mosley only one fight into his comeback, Mundine’s supreme fitness should enable him to not only mix it up with Mosley, but possibly expose Mosley in later rounds.

Mundine’s last outing was a middleweight contest with compatriot Daniel Geale, a fight where Mundine went toe to toe with Geale over twelve fast paced rounds, while coming into the fight on an “off day” at no where near his best.

Mundine’s fitness will surely test the ageing Mosley. With the perfect formula in his corner, Mundine has retained his speed and is gaining more strength and power rapidly at junior middleweight which will be a worry for Mosley. Mosley who wants to campaign at welterweight, will need to come up a division to face the flashy Mundine, while the Australian will drop down a weight class in a bid to chase history, to become the first person to win three world titles in three different weight divisions, in decending order.

This fight will no doubt grab the attention of not just the Australian public, but the lucrative US market. A win against a guy like Mosley will be sure to grab the attention of boxing’s biggest names in the 154 pound division, the likes of Alvarez, Trout, Cotto and of course Floyd Mayweather, all of whom are on Mundine’s radar.

Without a doubt, a huge sell out crowd would be in attendence and with the exciting match up of styles, this potential fight has already whipped the Australian boxing public into a frenzy.

Mosley would have quite a lot of support in a trip down under, with the Australian public not always supporting the outspoken Mundine, not only that, but why wouldn’t the Australian boxing fans get behind Shane Mosley, its not everyday a future Hall Of Famer fights on your shores. Lets just hope we get to witness this exciting match up. To get involved in the Pre Fight Hype use #MundineVMosley an have your say!
