Mayweather and Canelo face off(Photo credit: Esther Lin/Showtime) By Omar Torres: I managed to attend the first Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Saul “Canelo” Alvarez press conference yesterday in times square NYC. In a hot and humid day in New York City everyone waited an hour more of the original starting time at which time Canelo and Mayweather finally made their entrance on stage.

Fans where definitely cheering more for Canelo than Mayweather and you can see Mexican flags being waived all over the place. Despite what’s had been said about Mayweather looking scared of Canelo when they where at the studio recording promos for the fight, I saw Floyd calm and happy I didn’t see any distress from him at all not even in the face-off.

Mayweather appeared extremely confident that he is going to be ready for Alvarez come September. One thing I did notice is how muscular Canelo looked and how much more mass he has than Mayweather at this point. Canelo looks in tip top shape and looks like his ready to knock someones head off.

Canelo also looked extremely focused almost with an angered face. I guess that’s his game face. Canelo lasted like three minutes talking in the podium, while Floyd talked for about 7 to 10 minutes. When they did the face-off at the end of the conference, the crowd erupted, and I couldn’t even hear myself think.

All in all it was worth waiting in the blistering heat. The boxing world is ready to see these two unfold in the biggest fight in combat sports currently, and the biggest fight boxing has had in years. On September 14th in Las Vegas MGM Grand arena, we will all find out who is “The One.”
