At the final press conference today, Malignaggi said “This guy’s nothing. On Saturday night, I’m going to show you how nothing he is. I’m going to be taking him into the later rounds. I’m going to beat his a**!”

Broner said “I’m going to put on a hell of a show. I’m not here to bash you, Paulie. You’re a great champion.”

Malignaggi: “Stop stuttering like Floyd.”

Broner: “You’re a great Italian. You got good talent. I want you to keep your day job. I will leave on Saturday night a three-time world champion at the age of 23, and I’m going to put on a show; you know I’ve got to put on a show in front of the beautiful lead that’s standing on the left of me, the miss Jessica. I’ve got to put on a show in front of miss Jessica. I’m going to let Paulie get up here and talk his little bulls***, but at the end of the day we really got to fight on Saturday. I’m going to knock him the f*** out. He’s never been knocked out. I’m going to knock him the f*** out. I’ll see yall Saturday night. It’s going to be a hell of a fight.”

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer said “Adrien Broner is one of those talents that come along once in a lifetime.”

Malignaggi is keying on Broner possibly wearing down and getting tired in the later rounds of the fight. Malignaggi must have seen something that gave him the impression that Broner will gas out because there’s not much to go on. Broner has only been extended once into the 10th round and that was by Daniel Ponce De Leon two years ago.

Broner has never fought 12 rounds before, and so if Malignaggi is able to take him that far then he might be able to wear him down. However, in Broner’s 8th round stoppage win over Antonio DeMarco last November, Broner didn’t look tired in the 8th round. He looked like he was punching at full strength and the only thing that was going to limit him was how much DeMarco could take.

Maligaggi is going to have to put a lot of pressure on Broner if he wants him to fade in the late rounds because he fights at a slow pace and doesn’t get out of breath with the way he fights. This could change if Malignaggi forces Broner to fight at a faster pace than he’s accustomed. For Malignaggi to do that he’s going to have to be willing to exchange with Broner.
