Khan would probably beat Adrien Broner easily

broner#011By Scott Gilfoid: I hate to say it but after watching Adrien Broner (27-0, 22 KO’s) go life and death with WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-5, 7 KO’s) in winning a god awful 12 round split decision in Brooklyn, New York, I think Broner would get EASILY beaten by Amir Khan.

I mean, I still think Khan’s chin is going to limit where he can go at 147 when matched against the best fighters at that weight, but I think he beats Broner with ease. Broner was high on my list of talents to rule the boxing world, but he’s off my list now after last night’s performance.

Broner doesn’t punch with enough power at 147 to beat the best guys at that weight, and I think even Khan, with his fragile chin, would pound Broner win by a lopsided 12 round decision over him if Golden Boy were to ever make that fight.

Broner was pretty helpless last night when Malignaggi was on the outside using his jab, and he showed no ability to punch in between Malignaggi’s own shots. There was no counter punching from Broner. He was just waiting for Malignaggi to stop throwing before he would look land one of his own shots.

Khan would do well against a fighter like Broner because he wouldn’t have to worry about getting hit with anything from long distance, he wouldn’t have to worry about getting hit with a counter punch, and he wouldn’t have to worry about Broner’s power. As long as Khan stays on the outside, he would easily beat Broner.

It’s a fight that I would like to see because it’s much more interesting seeing Khan fight Broner for his WBA welterweight title then it’ll be to see Khan fighting Devon Alexander for his IBF welterweight strap. Golden Boy needs to wake up and make the Khan-Broner fight and forget about Khan-Alexander.

Khan vs. Broner would be suspenseful and the winner of the fight would have a much bigger name than they were going into the fight. For Khan, it would be a big deal because he would beat one of the new big names in the sport and that would help his sagging career. For Broner, if he can beat Khan, it would help increase his name value and popularity to help make him a pay per view star. If nothing else, the fight would be exciting from start to finish and a lot more interesting to watch than Broner vs. Malignaggi was.

Broner just stands in one place and that would be a big mistake against Khan. It would like another Carlos Molina type opponent for him.
