fury5333By Scott Gilfoid: British heavyweight contender Tyson Fury says he spoke with Adam Booth, the manager/trainer for David Haye, and he’s saying that he’s interested in matching Haye against Fury next. Fury says he wants to take this fight next.

Fury was interviewed by Channel 5 it’s “99 percent” a possibility to happen after his conversation with Booth.

In an interview with I Film London, Fury said “David Haye’s going to come out ducking and diving, and I’m going to knock him out like Steve Cunningham. Cruiserweights are easy for me. I’m blowing him out of the water.”

I’m frankly surprised that Fury even needed to speak with Booth to learn this. It’s not as if Haye himself hasn’t been quiet about his interest in facing Fury. I mean, he’s been telling everyone that’s will to listen to him that he wants to fight the 6’9” Fury and that he doesn’t see it as an actual fight because of how vulnerable Fury is.

Fury believes his fight with Haye will be a huge fight for Britain. I wish I could agree but I can’t. Fury isn’t a big enough name to make this a huge fight in the UK or anywhere else, and Haye is still tainted by his loss to IBF/IBO/WBA/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko from 2011. Haye has done very little since then, fighting once and beating domestic fighter Dereck Chisora. Haye had been scheduled to fight Manuel Charr next but the fight fell through after Haye suffered an injury while training for the fight. Now it looks like Haye won’t be rescheduling.

Charr is the guy that WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko easily beat last year by a 4th round TKO. Anyway, Haye hasn’t done enough to make boxing fans forget about his loss to Wladimir, and Fury is coming off of a win over Steve Cunningham where Fury looked absolutely horrible. He got the win but he was dropped and staggered by the 210 pound Cunningham and made to look like a clumsy, slapping heavyweight with a fragile chin.

It’s pretty obvious why Haye now wants to fight Fury, and I expect the two fighters to negotiate the fight.
