End Of The Road For Juanma? Good Fight For Mikey!

lopez543By Adrian Alvarez Jr.: In what was a much quicker bout than I thought it would be, Mikey Garcia used his great counter punching and boxing ability to defeat Juan Manuel Lopez by a 4th round TKO tonight at the America Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Despite failing to make the weight last Friday, Mikey showed why he’s unbeaten in dominating Lopez with counter punching, jabs and power shots. He knocked Lopez down twice in the fight.

With this win, Mikey is ready to move up and take bigger fight.

I’ve always been a Juanma fan, but his defense or lack thereof has already driven my crazy. Juanma has had a good but less than stellar career with some good names on his record, but having lost in a destructive fashion to Orlando Salido on two occasions. He was KO’d by Salido twice, proving that maybe his chin is not as solid as one would like.

Lopez was also stunned and wobbling around the last two rounds against a lesser opponent in Rogers Mtagwa in 2009.

The question now is should Juanma continue his career?

My answer is he’s still young enough but apparently not as healthy anymore. He needs to learn some defense, and how to move his head and feet, as well learning to use his jab more.

I hate to say it but things will get ugly for Juanma in the future and eventually it’s going to be the end of the road for him.
