Paulie Malignaggi weighs in(Photo credit: Tom Casino/Showtime) By Allan Fox: Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) is fully prepared to chase WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) around the ring tonight to get a stoppage victory at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Broner doesn’t see how Malignaggi will be able to escape from the ring to survive for 12 rounds.

Broner said to RingTV, “I have no problems chasing a cat. He really didn’t want to look at me [during the stare down at the weigh-in]. He don’t want any confrontations with me. I’ll exploit all his weaknesses…I knew I was going to stop him before I signed the contract.”

Broner has put a lot of pressure on himself to get the knockout with his KO predictions. If he doesn’t get a stoppage victory in this fight it could be a real let down for him and for fans who believe he’s the next Floyd Mayweather Jr. Malignaggi would not survive for 12 rounds against a young, 23-year-old version of Mayweather Jr., and so he shouldn’t be able to go 12 rounds if Broner is in the class of Mayweather.

If Broner has to struggle to beat Malignaggi then it’ll be the closest thing you can get to him having lost the fight himself because boxing fans will be turned off towards Broner in droves if he can’t take care of a fighter like Malignaggi. This is someone that you have to be able to beat if you’re the next pay per view super star.

Broner feels he’s 1-2 years away from being a big PPV fighter. If that’s going to be the case then he needs to start fighting some of the more dangerous fighters at 147 or 140. Beating Malignaggi won’t do it. Broner needs to start facing guys like Victor Ortiz, Danny Garcia, Lucas Matthysse, Marcos Maidana, Devon Alexander, Lamont Peterson and leave the Malignaggi types behind because it’s a waste of time and effort if Broner’s goal is to be a huge PPV attraction.
