Broner will be getting $375,000 more than Malignaggi in this fight with a purse of $1.5 million compared to Malignaggi’s $1.125 million, according to Dan Rafael of ESPN.

On the undercard, heavyweight Seth Mitchell will be getting $100,000 while his opponent Johnathan Banks will be getting $180,000.

In the super middleweight match-up between Sakio Bika and Marco Antonio Periban, Bika will get $125,000 compared to Periban’s $50,000. Bika and Periban will be fighting for the vacant WBC super middleweight title that was stripped from Andre Ward.

Malignaggi isn’t happy about Broner receiving more money than him, as he sees it as a sign of disrespect that the promoters are paying Broner more when he’s the one with the World Boxing Association belt in his possession. However, Broner is unbeaten, highly entertaining, the younger fighter by 9 years at 23, and thought of as a future pay per view star possibly on the level of Floyd Mayweather Jr. if Golden Boy plays their cards right with the match-making they’re doing for Broner.

Malignaggi, 32, is kind of at the end of his run and it’s difficult to picture a future where he’ll be able to win another world title. Malignaggi kind of lucked out with him getting a title shot against WBA welterweight champion Vyacheslav Senchenko last year because he was seen as a paper champion and the weak link among the four welterweight champions by a lot of boxing fans.

Malignaggi fought pretty much the only guy that he would have had any real chance of beating, and he’s got his promoters at Golden Boy to think for the match-making because if they had put him in with IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander, he probably would have lost. He likely wouldn’t have been able to get a title shot against WBO welterweight champ Tim Bradley nor WBC champ Floyd Mayweather Jr., but he probably would have lost had he gotten those fights.
