Will Froch-Kessler winner face Andre Ward?

ward3432By Scott Gilfoid: Both Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler have talked about wanting to avenge their defeats by WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward recently and Ward is really hoping that he can get both of them in the ring again so that he can shot that his victories over the two European fighters wasn’t a fluke.

This Saturday Froch and Kessler will be facing each other in a rematch at the O2 Arena in London, UK. The winner of the fight really has no place to go in the division other than to try and redeem themselves by facing Ward again to show that they’re not as bad as Ward made them both look in his dominating performances against them.

The question British fans is will the Froch-Kessler winner man up and face Ward or will they chose to avoid him while talking trash about how they would beat him? I really wish I could say that Froch or Kessler will fight Ward in 2013, but I just don’t see it happening. For that matter, I don’t see it happening in 2014 or 2015. I actually don’t see Froch or Kessler ever fighting Ward again. They got a lifetime’s worth of a whipping by him and they’re probably not going to want another taste of that experience.

I would have a lot of respect for the Froch-Kessler winner if they chose to fight Ward again. I mean, I’d still respect them even with them pretty much being doomed to another one-sided defeat. But it would take a lot of courage for them to take another fight with Ward because they have to know that they would stand no chance against Ward. They’re just not as talented as him and wouldn’t have a chance to win unless they got lucky with Ward reinjuring his surgically operated on shoulder.

The whole point of Froch and Kessler fighting again is discover who the #2 fighter is in the super middleweight division. The next logical thing would be for them to fight Ward, the #1 guy.

Unfortunately, I don’t see that happening. Froch’s promoter Eddie Hearn will likely continue to steer Froch into safer waters rather than putting him in with Ward again.
