Tyson Fury options: Pulev or Adamek

fury11By Daniel Mcglinchey: Unbeaten Heavyweight sensation Tyson Fury (21-0, 15 KO’s) is set to be out again in the summer to continue his journey on the way to Heavyweight stardom.

According to his uncle and trainer Peter Fury his options are Kubrat Pulev (17-0, 9 KO’s) or Tomasz Adamek (48-2, 29 KO’s) for his next bout according to Peter Fury’s social media site. Peter also mentioned David Haye. However, Haye recently signed to fight 2nd tier Manuel Charr, so he’s out of the picture.

Either Adamek or Pulev as an opponent for Tyson would generate massive interest from boxing fans around the world because they are both legitimate and established world class fighters.

Fury is a rarity in the division because he seems more than willing to take on risks and fight ranked names unlike a lot of the Heavyweights in the division today.

Tomasz Adamek is a former 2 weight world champion and a well rounded fighter who has dismantled some top contenders such as- Jonathon Banks, Steve Cunningham twice, Michael Grant & Chris Arreola. Tyson would be an underdog in the bookies eyes for this fight due to his recent poor performance in knocking out Steve Cunningham, but I see Tyson fighting with his head rather than his heart if this fight materializes because trainer Peter Fury will be back in his corner.

I think Fury’s sheer size and overall ability would be too much for the Polish star Adamek to handle and I think Tyson would stop him late.

Tyson is a far more skilled fighter than he showed in the Cunningham bout, if you had watched his previous 3 fights; Martin Rogan, Vinny Maddalone & Kevin Johnson you could probably work that out for yourself. I believe due to the absence of his trainer Peter in his corner & the hype surrounding the fight Tyson resorted to a brawl rather than a boxing match. However, he still won the fight by knockout.

The other option for Tyson is Kubrat Pulev. Pulev has a solid amateur pedigree and is undefeated as a professional.

Kubrat has really impressed in his last 2 outings stopping the highly regarded Dimitrenko and classy Ustinov late on, and again Fury would be the underdog if this match up gets made. However, I see Tyson grinding out a unanimous decision.

If Tyson fights like he did against Kevin Johnson then there is no way Pulev could trouble him. Pulev’s power is limited and I can’t see him being able to handle Tyson’s combinations. Tyson would be guaranteed a shot for the title being the mandatory for the IBF strap if he defeated Pulev.

Wladimir Klitschko has been ignoring Fury for a while now picking out weak opponents to face such as Mariusz Wach and Francesco Pianeta.

I think Tyson will shock a lot of people in his next outing showing what he really can do.
