Trout: Mayweather will beat Guerrero

mayweather555By Dan Ambrose: Former WBA junior middleweight champion Austin Trout is going with WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. to defeat Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero (31-1-1, 18 KO’s) this Saturday night at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Trout has seen a lot of both fighters, and he sees Guerrero trying to rough Mayweather up but he doesn’t see that working for him. Trout does see the fight being a close one, but he feels that Guerrero won’t do enough to get the decision.

Trout said to esnewsreporting.com: “I think Mayweather’s going to pull out a decision, whether it’s controversial or not, he’s going to win the fight. Guerrero’s going to make it tough, to try and rough him up, but I think it’s going to be a close fight. Mayweather’s a winner; he finds ways to win.”

It’s going to be tough on Guerrero to try and win this fight because he’s not going to be able to rely on fouling to get him the win like he did against Andre Berto because the referee will have no doubt sat down and watched Guerrero’s fight with Berto and saw how much Guerrero was able to get away with in fouling.

Guerrero is a different fighter when he’s able to foul without being called on it by the referees. If Guerrero does get away with fouling for this fight then you can expect Mayweather to match him foul or foul.

In that case the referee will have to do something because he’ll look like a helpless figure if he lets both guys brain each other with elbows, rabbit punches and holding & hitting.

I disagree with what Trout said about Mayweather getting the fight whether it’s controversial or not because that implies that Mayweather will be given a decision that he perhaps doesn’t deserve. I don’t see it that way. I think Mayweather will be given a decision if he’s earned it. If he doesn’t, then Guerrero will win the fight.

If Mayweather makes the mistake of backing up to the ropes and fighting Guerrero from that vantage point then he’ll be asking for trouble because Guerrero does well against stationary fighters that fight off the ropes the way that Berto did last November.
