wilder213By Tony Crooks: When was the last time that you turned on the TV and heard some good news? When was the last time that you heard of someone saving the life of child in heroic circumstances?

You don’t, having said that, what you do hear is only death, destruction, terrorism and basically bad news. Why? Because bad news sells, good news never gets a look in. It is the same with heavyweight boxing.

I need to ask you a question, are you more interested in the clean living heavyweight boxers that have never have a bad word said against them or do you prefer the crazy off the rails type that is always in the news for wrong doing? Let’s look at two characters that are off the rails type first.

Mike Tyson

Car crashes, rape, wife beating, drug abuse, ear and leg biting, prison, foul and abusive language assault, the list goes on and on. But still a great boxer, or was he just a lunatic hell bent on causing mayhem both in and out of the ring?

Sonny Liston

Nicknamed the “Bear” this man was a powerhouse that terrified the HW division, constantly in the news for all of the wrong reasons and finally shot dead.

Now let’s look at the clean living types like the K Brothers, they are well educated, speak a number of languages and are also good businessmen. Lennox Lewis was exactly the same, never a bad word or any form of scandal. I recently put together an article on the K brothers and the basic consensus was that they were boring robots. There was also an article not by me about Lennox Lewis, same kind of comments, safety first, boring, just used his jab. But here’s is the thing as soon as someone mentions Mike Tyson, the comments go crazy. Was it the excitement that he brought to ring? Was it what went on out of the ring or a combination of both?

David Haye, Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder all are guilty of trash talking, Tyson Fury is also guilty of very poor singing in a public place, and there must be a law in the USA that protects its citizens from the mental cruelty of having to listen to out of tune boxers singing on TV!

The above mentioned are all characters whether you love of hate them, but they are the most mentioned fighters on this website. So what is better to be clean living or to cause mayhem?

Let’s hear your comments!
