Malignaggi: I’m going to outclass Broner and beat him up

broner6545By Allan Fox: WBA welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi (32-4, 7 KO’s) isn’t impressed with Adrien Broner (26-0, 22 KO’s) at all, and feels he’s going to school the 23-year-old and expose him in front of the boxing world next month on June 22nd in their fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

Malignaggi said to I Film London “I’ll be outclassing him and beating him up. I really believe his power is overrated. I can stand in front of him if I need to and mix it up…I can’t see myself losing…I’m going to beat his a** and beat s*** out of him, and it’s not going to be a pretty sight.”

I think it’s possible that Malignaggi can outclass Broner in this fight if he sticks and moves and avoids mixing it up with him, but if he tries to stand in front of him then it’s going to be bad for Malignaggi. He can’t beat Broner by slugging with him, and if he chooses to fight him like that then it’s going to give Broner an advantage in this fight.

Broner doesn’t move well around the ring and he needs Malignaggi to stand in front of him to get his big shots off. Broner likes to pattern himself after Floyd Mayweather Jr., but he doesn’t have his foot speed. He needs Malignaggi to make it easy for him to get his shots off.

Broner’s talent might be overrated, but his power is very real. Malignaggi shouldn’t test him by choosing to slug. Broner likes to sit back and wait for his opponents to get near him. He then nails them with left hooks and uppercuts. He’s a lot like Nonito Donaire in that respect. But Broner struggles when his opponents move and jab him from the distance.

Malignaggi will probably lose this fight because he’ll do something foolish that will get him knocked out, but he does have the ability and the experience to win this fight if he’s smart about it.
