fury564534By Daniel Mcglinchey: Young 18-year-old heavyweight talent Hughie Fury (3-0, 2 KO’s) is already looking like an extremely talented boxer at such a young and tender age.

I believe under the guidance of world class trainer and father Peter Fury, Hughie has the capabilities to become a World Champion if he is channeled in the right direction.

After winning gold at the AIBA Youth Championships last year, Hughie turned pro and scheduled a 4 round fight to Canadian David Whittom. After a strong 1st round for Hughie, Hughie pushed on even further in the 2nd and stopped Whittom by landing a mean right hand to the top of the head sending Whittom crashing to the canvas shortly followed by Whittom’s corner waving the contest off.

Less than a month later the young talent would be fighting again on his Cousin Tyson Fury’s undercard against former unbeaten fighter Alex Rozman. Hughie put on a master class looking like a seasoned fighter rather than a young kid, peppering Rozman with devastating shots sending him to the floor 4 times before the ref put a stop to the contest in the very first round.

And just over a week ago Hughie was out again against Moses Matovu in Belfast, Hughie won the fight via a 4 round Unanimous Decision, taking every round comfortably boxing smart and using his jab effectively, my prediction is Peter had him fight this way to get some more rounds under his belt.

The potential Hughie shows is massive, his speed and power comes in abundance and the patience he shows in the ring is very impressive. He genuinely is starting to look like the real deal and it’s scary the fact that this guy’s just going to get better.

Could Hughie Fury become the youngest ever Heavyweight World Champion? I wouldn’t bet against it.

Hughie’s next outing will be on the 8th of June 2013 against Sandor Balogh at the International Events Arena, Castlebar, Ireland.
