Froch: Ward has to come to the UK to fight me

froch302By Scott Gilfoid: Fresh off of his 12 round unanimous decision win over WBA super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler tonight in London, England, IBF super middleweight champion Carl Froch gave his one condition for WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward to fight him – the fight has to take place in the UK where Froch lives.

In other words, Froch doesn’t want to come to the United States to fight Ward again after losing to him by a 12 round unanimous decision in December 2011 while the two were taking part in the Super Six tournament hosted by Showtime Sports.

Froch said to Sky Sports tonight: “He [Ward] is there to be beaten, but not over in America. Let’s get him over here. I went over to America and now let’s get him over to England. I said before this fight that the winner should really be concentrating on moving on and my other loss was to pound for pound number two in the world Andre Ward.”

This is interesting that Froch is talking Ward because Froch is also saying he wants a third fight with Kessler. So which is it? Does Froch really Ward or does he want Kessler next? I almost think Froch is name dropping Ward’s name to give his boxing fans the appearance that he wants to avenge the loss, but then Froch turns around and will probably give the excuse that Ward doesn’t want to fight him in the UK as the excuse not to have to fight him.

Froch would then go ahead and fight the guy that he originally wanted to fight Kessler in a third fight. I firmly believe that’s what Froch is doing. He’s name dropping and setting up conditions where he knows Ward would never agree to it in order for them to fight.

Ward doesn’t need to come to the UK because HE’S the one that beat Froch in 2011, not the other way around. When you get beat like Froch was by Ward, you don’t start calling the shots like you’re the big cheese.

Froch is the one that got beat, so he should be bending over backwards to try and get a rematch with Ward so that he can show the world and himself that he’s got the talent to avenge that loss. I don’t think he can, and I definitely don’t think Froch is serious about wanting to fight Ward.
