Froch vs. Kessler II: Redemption

froch#6By Dan Henderson: This Saturday night will see the highly anticipated rematch between Carl Froch and Mikkel Kessler. Their first fight was an action packed twelve rounder in which Kessler was announced the winner via a unanimous decision with scores of 116–112, 115–113 and 117–111. I had scored the bout closer than that but that is now history, the question on everyone’s lips is can Froch win the rematch?

I believe that he will, since the fight Froch has gone on to become the IBF super middleweight champion after mauling former unbeaten champion Lucian Bute inside five rounds in Nottingham. I’m not saying this will be an easy fight because Kessler is a world class operator who will bring everything to this fight.

As I pointed out I believe Froch has been in with better opposition and with the exception of his defeat to Andre Ward he has not really had to graft out any victories with the likes of Abraham, Johnson, Bute and Mack all succumbing to defeat. Kessler on the other hand has faced Mehdi Bouadla, Allan Green and veteran Brian Magee picking up the WBA strap along the way.

What should we expect from this fight? Can we expect a repeat of their fight of the year candidate? I think we will see another war from these two warrior’s, I think it’ll be another close fight which will go the distance and will see a narrow points win for either man. Froch will rightly so go in to this fight as the favourite and if he picks up the win we could see him get the rematch against Ward that he is craving so badly.
