Froch and Kessler’s promoters interested in third fight

By Scott Gilfoid: While IBF/WBA super middleweight champion Carl Froch is saying he’d be interested in fighting WBA super middleweight champion Andre Ward next, both Froch’s and Kessler’s promoters appear to be leaning in the direction of setting up a third fight between the Dane and the Brit.

It’s strange that both promoters are saying the same thing that ‘the boxing public wants Froch and Kessler to fight again.’

Kalle Sauerland, the promoter for Kessler, said to the guardian.co.uk “Carl Froch wants Andre Ward, but the world wants Froch-Kessler III.”

I wonder how many times these guys will fight for the number #2 spot in the division without showing the drive to step it up and face the #1 fighter at 168, Andre Ward. Like I said, I can see them going on and on and on with fight after fight in a kind of European championship showdown, while the division’s best fighter Ward is sitting on the sidelines laughing about it.

Honestly, Ward needs to see what time it is. Neither of these guys appear to want to get a second helping of another beat down after their one-sided losses from Ward in the past. It doesn’t matter how long Ward waits, it’s not going to happen.

When Froch and Kessler eventually tire from fighting each other, they’ll either retire or move in another direction towards someone like 48-year-old Bernard Hopkins. If Froch and Kessler keep fighting each other, Hopkins may turn the magic 50 while he waits for his turn against one of these guys.

Ward should move on and rid both of their names from his vocabulary because it’s forlorn at this point. Ward has better things to do than talk about guys that aren’t willing to fight him. Oh, I’m sure both Froch and Kessler will bring up Ward’s name from time to time to give the appearance they plan on fighting him some day, but I don’t see either of them ever facing him again.
