alvarez434By Mel Reyes: Right Now that the possible fight of the century has been announced between WBA/WBC junior middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez (42-0-1, 30 KO’s) and Floyd Mayweather Jr. (44-0, 26 KO’s) for September 14th, Canelo is in search of a strength and conditioning trainer.

Rightfully so, Canelo needs to work on his stamina and losing the two extra pounds to make the catch-weight requirement of 152lbs. for the fight. We’ve seen in Mayweather’s most recent fights that he can keep his stamina into the championship rounds when his opponents are gassed out and frustrated.

If Canelo wants to win this fight it may come down to those championship rounds. The two most popular names are not available, Alex Ariza and Angel Heridia. Alex Ariza is training Mikey Garcia and will begin training Manny Pacquiao. Angel Heridia will be training Juan Manuel Marquez and Brandon Rios for their upcoming Pay Per View fights.

Will one of these trainers take on what could be the biggest recognition of their career with neither men having prepared a fighter for the P4P Champion Mayweather.

There are other trainers out there that can assist Canelo in his training for the biggest fight of his career. Danny Davis has assists Bernard Hopkins in his training camps. Edward Jackson works with Andre Ward but he’ll probably be busy getting Ward ready for his September comeback.

Victor Conte comes with his own baggage but has provided his services to others in boxing. This fight will not only come down to Canelo’s power but also his stamina and who can condition him to face 12 Rounds with Mayweather, if it gets that far.
