Like most surgeries it was deemed a success and Bute now will start the healing process so that he can get ready for his fight with former WBC light heavyweight champion Jean Pascal this year.

Bute was supposed to be fighting Pascal on May 25th but the fight had to be postponed after Bute injured his hand while training for the fight.

While his hand heals it’ll be in a cast initially and then it’ll be taken off so that he can get his mobility back in it to start the rehab process.
Once Bute’s hand heals he and Pascal can reschedule their fight at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.

Pascal is a bad match-up for Bute, and he might want to look at the hand injury as something that was a warning to him that it might not be a good idea for him to take this fight. Bute was stopped last year in May by Carl Froch, and he didn’t look good in his recent win over Denis Grachev last November in a fight that was very close throughout.

Bute looked like the shell of himself in that fight and the Froch fight, and it seems pretty clear that he’s lost a step and isn’t reacting to punches like he did two to three years ago.

Bute wants to beat Pascal and then consider the option of fighting Froch again. That would be another bad idea because Froch proved pretty clearly that he owned Bute and no amount of rematches would likely change that. Froch is too strong for him and Bute doesn’t have the chin to be taking the big shots from Froch and he doesn’t have the defense to get out of the way of his big shots.
